Strawberry-Lemon Chia Jam Recipe

Berry season is upon us! The warmer weather, and the brighter sun is the ultimate time to experiment with some DIY (do-it yourself) activities. Case in point, homemade, do-it-yourself deliciously simple, jam recipes!

Making your own jam is easy, fun, healthier and much more cost effective compared to store

bought jellys and jams. Store bought jams are loaded with chemicals, added sugars and artificial sweeteners, and preservatives that make them toxic and harmful to your body. Good quality, locally sourced spreads sold in grocery stores and farmers markets can be convenient and a much healthier alternative to commercial brand jams and jellys, but often times they are very expensive. My mantra is, if you can make it..why buy it?!

Any berry from strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry make an excellent base for a homemade jam spread! Since I had a case of strawberries in the fridge, I went with some organic strawberries as the base for my first homemade jam of the season! Incorporating chia seeds into your jam/jelly spreads will give it an increase in plant based fiber and protein, since chia seeds are a super food! With the addition of the lemon juice, it gives the jam a tangy twist with added alkalizing benefits, antioxidants and vitamin C boost. Strong immune system makes for a strong, healthy body.

So, in celebration of berry season, and kicking off another clean eating summer..I’ve created a super delicious and super simple jam recipe to add a little color to your morning gluten-free toast!
