Meet The Ingredient: Cilantro

Meet…CILANTRO! If you don’t know, you are about to really know. There’s a few staples I immediately recommend to anyone looking to transition to a healthier, cleaner lifestyle. Those clean eating must haves are: lemon water, ginger, apple cider vinegar, and..cilantro.

Cilantro is a powerful heavy metal detoxifying agent. Cilantro contains carbolic acid, which binds to heavy metals, like Mercury, in the blood and loosens it from the tissue in the body and helps to remove it. 

Cilantro protects against heart disease. Not only is it an excellent source of antioxidants, contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and helps to reduce “LDL” (bad cholesterol) levels while increasing “HDL” (good cholesterol) levels. This helps to reduce clogged arteries and protect us from heart attack, stroke, and heart disease.

Cilantro helps to improve digestion. The first stages of digestion begin by scent, then the mouth (saliva helps to break down our food and extract nutrients and vitamins from our food). Due cilantro’s strong aroma, it helps to secrete and stimulate digestive enzymes in the stomach assisting in a stronger digestive system and increasing absorption of vitamins from our food.
